Castillo de Santa Bárbara
We invite you to visit the Castillo de Santa Barbara, one of the most beautiful tourist attractions in Alicante on the Costa Blanca. The castle perches majestically on a hilltop, offering unforgettable views of the city, the Mediterranean Sea, and the surrounding mountains.
The Castillo de Santa Barbara, one of the largest castles in Spain, is impressive in its architecture, with numerous towers, bastions, and defensive walls that testify to its rich history. The castle was originally built in the 9th century during the Arab era and later expanded by Christian conquerors.
Today, the castle serves as a museum, showcasing collections related to the history of Alicante and the region. Among the exhibits are Roman artifacts, ancient coins, and weapons. Of particular note are the 15th-century Spanish shields and a replica of a Moncada cannon used in the Battle of Alicante in the 18th century.
After a fascinating tour of the castle, relax in the courtyard, enjoying the shade of the ancient trees and the magnificent views of the city and surrounding area. At the top of the hill, you'll also find a restaurant where you can enjoy traditional Spanish cuisine and sample local wines and specialties.
The Castillo de Santa Barbara is open year-round, except on public holidays. We highly recommend visiting this extraordinary site to enjoy its charm, panoramic views, and fascinating history.
