How to spend time in Castellammare del Golfo? The best attractions in the area!

Many of our guests believe that Castellammare del Golfo is one of the most beautiful places on the entire island. We must admit immodestly that we agree with this statement 100%! A quiet, charming town, beautiful views, affordable prices, no crowds and an ideal base for traveling around northwestern Sicily. If you are looking for a place to rest from the hustle and bustle and want a place where you live slowly, celebrate meals and enjoy every moment, then Castellammare del Golfo will certainly appeal to you.

What's the best way to spend time in Castellammare del Golfo?

Walks with a hint of history

Castellammare del Golfo was a port in ancient times. Subsequently, the Arabs built a fortress here, which was later developed by the Normans. Then the Spaniards came to the city - they built their churches, houses and tenement houses. Therefore, as in the entire region, each of these cultures has left its mark in Castellammare del Golfo. And because the town has retained its historic character, the architecture is truly unique and you can feel the true atmosphere of Sicily. Getting lost in the narrow, cobbled streets, among tightly packed tenement houses and churches will be one of the best ways to get to know the city.

Beautiful views

If you are going on holiday in Castellammare del Golfo, you have probably already looked at a lot of photos from the region. Everything looked wonderful, right? We assure you, however, that what the internet postcards show cannot compare to the views you will find on site. The mountains, the sea, the town located on numerous hills and cliffs - charming is an understatement.

We also recommend visiting numerous viewpoints located throughout the area, including: Belvedere Castellammare del Golfo or Punta Petrolo.

Castle, port, fish market

One of the best pleasures of your stay in Castellammare del Golfo is a morning walk to the fish market in the local port. You can buy the best, fresh fish and seafood there. The same ones you'll eat for dinner in any local restaurant in the evening.

After a noisy visit to the market, we recommend going to the port, where you will be greeted by blissful silence. The sight of boats gently rocking on the turquoise surface and watching the fishermen finishing their morning catches without unnecessary haste allows you to relax 100%. We also recommend visiting the port in the evening - the port and the illuminated town are very impressive.

Don't forget about the main monument of Castellammare del Golfo, i.e. the castle standing nearby the port. The building was built by the Arabs and later expanded by the Normans. Today, you can not only admire this beautiful architecture from the outside - inside there is a regional ethnographic and archaeological museum.

Vineyards, confectioneries, bars, restaurants

Another great way to learn about the culture of a given region is to celebrate the moment and... tasting! We have mentioned more than once that visiting Sicily and not trying the local wine is something between a sin and tactless 😉 In the area you will find many wonderful vineyards where you can not only buy the best labels at good prices, but also experience an amazing culinary adventure . We especially recommend our friendly Quattrociel vineyard , where you will find everything you dream about while in Sicily.

Of course, don't end your culinary conquests with vineyards! Trying the local cuisine will allow you to discover the real Sicily. Take a walk to the small squares where restaurants and cafes set up their tables. Eat breakfast in the cafeteria, drink coffee in the bar, have dinner in the osteria at sunset - enjoy every moment and taste Italian life.

Trekking, diving, sailing

The Castellammare del Golfo area also delights all lovers of various sports. The entire region is full of picturesque hiking and trekking routes. In the Monte Inici mountains you will find very interesting caves and caves, to which trips are organized under the supervision of experienced speleologists.

The local beaches are famous for ideal conditions for diving and windsurfing. During the season, catamaran cruises, kayaking and many other water attractions are also offered at the beaches.
